Scalable System Configuration

The microLOC is a plug-and-play professional cost effective real time GPS fleet management system using Open Street Map and Google EarthTM as its mapping platform. It is configurable through a built-in web server to track and manage vehicles and personnel assets by GPS enabled ICOM Radios. In addition to the location service, a text messaging facility and the processing of status changes is provided. The maximum number of vehicles that are trackable at the same time depends on the version of microLOC. Please contact your nearest ICOM dealer or hermes for further details.

Latest Additions

Geo-Fencing – Email Notification – Offline Maps

Whether if be for commercial or safety reasons geo-fencing will add a layer of certainty to the tracking operations of the fleet.

The Geo-fencing tool enables a dispatcher to ‘ring-fence’ the geographical area a subscriber (or group of subscribers) is able to travel around. Should a subscriber cross the demarcation line of the geo-fence the dispatcher will receive an immediate warning.

In a typical school bus scenario, the fleet of buses will operate in a strict geographic area. Should a bus cross the demarcation line, it may well indicate that the bus is in trouble – the emergency alert to the dispatcher will enable the dispatcher to check the location of the bus, and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of the bus – and its important contents without alerting the bus of the fact that emergency services have been deployed.

Similarly, to ensure the integrity of logistics, whether this be the physical security of a high-value transporter or simply to keep a watchful eye on the fleet, should a subscriber stray from this usual area of operations the dispatcher will be alerted.

In addtion to this release, each dispatcher may be configured with an external email address where emergency notifications are sent to in case of emergency and the optional Offline Mode for Open Street Map to provide maps to systems without internet access.

These features will become as standard features of all microLOC enterprise with an upgrade package available for those systems currently deployed.

System Design

Virtual Private Tracking – Multiple User Groups

microLOC can have up to 20 users (dispatchers) using the microLOC simultaneously. Each subscriber can be assigned to either one distinct dispatcher or to multiple dispatchers. This enables the system to be used by multiple user groups where each dispatcher can only ‘see’ those subscribers that have been assigned to them.

Plug-and-Play

microLOC is not simply software. It is a reliable piece of hardware which is easy to access, configure and operate thru a built in web-server.
